As winter is getting closer to us, I’ve collected a list of 3 brands that will warm you up inside and out.
Disclaimer: all of them are sustainable, which means they are good for the Planet. And if it’s good for the Planet, it’s even better for you, girl.
This first one is my absolute favorite for many reasons. First of all, it’s modern. Even though they have a very particular style, they take a leap from potato-saks-looking-green-wear towards contemporary French Chic combined with California boho queen.
One look at the brand’s website will steal your heart. And if you’re not a big fan of dresses and more into casual style - they have plenty of recycled denim and t-shirts that can be accompanied by a pair of white sneakers.
You can read about their sustainable practices on their website.
Knitted sweaters, cardigans and even panties. This brand was founded by three girlfriends who refused to sacrifice style for greenness. Every sweater is handmade by women in Lithuania, mostly stay-at-home moms.
I personally bought a sweater from them and it’s so comforting to know that someone’s hands made it for me. Just like my mom used to knit me sweaters every winter. I should probably ask her to make another one. And then start a brand maybe ;)
Luxurious knitwear made by women in prison in Peru. The company helps these women to break the cycle of poverty, which is the reason why they got imprisoned in the first place. It's fascinating to read they're stories on the Carcel's website. We often tend to judge the book by its cover, but how much do we know about the life of the people we're judging. In no time these women become so real and so human.
Carcel is one of the great examples of how fashion, environmental and social issues can be aided by one's curiosity and persistence.
I feel particularly jealous sharing this one. As it’s SO cool, but I’m unable to afford it yet.
This boutique is so bohemian. And I don’t mean typical boho style with wide hats and long flowy robes. This is a different kind of bohemia. Imagine an artist in her studio painting all day in her perfect vintage jeans, nude knit top and barefoot. Imagine this coolness, and then make it times 10. If artists aren’t cool enough for you, I’m sorry, we can't be friends. Just kidding.
I’m also sharing what good fashion is and how to find it right here.
